Zap or Not Privacy Policy
This policy has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
The short version
We collect the minimum we need to deliver what you bought: your email address, your quiz answers, and, only if you buy a Photo Review, your photos. We never sell your personal data. Payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see or store your card number.
What we collect and why
Email address. Collected before the paywall so we can send you your results. With your consent, we may also send follow-up emails, including a reminder if you started the quiz and did not finish your purchase. You can unsubscribe from follow-up emails at any time with one click, and unsubscribing never affects delivery of something you paid for.
Quiz answers. Your answers about hair color, skin tone, medications, treatment areas, and past laser experience are used to generate your verdict and your personalized results, and to deliver the guides and recommendations matched to your answers. We may use quiz answers in anonymous, combined form to improve the assessment. Answers used this way are never linked to your name or email.
Photos (Photo Review only). If you purchase a Photo Review, you may upload photos of the area you want treated. Your photos are used only to complete your review. They are never used in marketing, never posted, and never shared with other customers. See the retention section below.
Payment information. All payments are processed by Stripe. Zap or Not never sees, receives, or stores your full card number. We receive confirmation of payment and the details needed to deliver your purchase and handle refunds under our Terms of Sale.
Basic technical data. Like most websites, we may receive standard technical information such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, used to keep the site working and understand where visitors get stuck. We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics counter to see page counts. We do not set advertising or tracking cookies.
What we never do
- We never sell your personal data.
- We never share your photos with anyone outside the review process.
- We never use your photos, before and after images, or results in advertising without your separate, explicit written permission.
Retention: how long we keep things
- Photos: deleted 30 days after your review is delivered.
- Quiz answers and results: your results link stays active for you indefinitely. We keep your quiz answers while your account or results link is active, and delete them on request as described below.
- Email address: kept while you are subscribed or while needed to deliver purchases, and removed on request as described below.
Whatever the periods above, you can ask for earlier deletion at any time.
Your choices and rights
- Delete my data. Email us at zapitornot@gmail.com and we will delete your email address, quiz answers, and photos within 30 days of your request, except for records we must keep for payment, tax, or legal reasons (payment and tax records are kept only as the law requires).
- Access my data. You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you at the same address.
- Unsubscribe. Every follow-up email includes an unsubscribe link. Transactional emails about a purchase you made, such as your results or a service report, are not marketing and may still be sent so you receive what you paid for.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to know, delete, and correct your data, and the right not to be discriminated against for using those rights. We honor deletion and access requests from everyone, wherever they live.
The Mom Test and clinics
If you purchase The Mom Test, we collect the clinic name, city, and what you want checked so we can make the call and write your report. We do not tell the clinic who you are.
Children
Zap or Not is intended for adults considering laser hair removal for themselves. It is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that affects how your data is used, we will post the updated version on this page, update the date below, and email our list about the change.
